Hi Deana,
I just finished your book, and was so sad when I did so. I am
typically a fiction reader, but I tackled your biography because
I love, love, love your dad. Your telling was so open and honest,
now I can't imagine going back to plain 'ol fiction! :) I am 32
years old, but I would have loved to experience just one day in
the classy time of your dad's "old Hollywood" that you
described to a t. Today's celebrity scene just seems to pale in
comparison. Anyway, I did have one question for you... Is there
any way to get a copy of the "Christmas with the Martin’s
and Sinatra’s" show? I would absolutely love to see
it. Thanks so much, and best of luck for your continued and deserved
success!
Julie
Hi Julie,
I’m sorry to say at this time the Dean Martin Christmas
Show is not available for sale.
Deana
Hi Deana,
I have been a fan of your father's since I was a very little girl.
My parents took me along every week when they went to the movies
where I first saw Martin & Lewis. My father who was born in
Italy had many prejudices to over come when he came to America
as a small child. I think that your father was a strong factor
in bringing out the fact that Italian’s were good and talented
and funny, good parents who cared about their families like regular
people. Helping to dispel some of the prejudices. Anyway, I am
going to buy both your CD and the book, but I wondered if the book
was available in audio/CD form? My mother would really enjoy listening
to it. She cannot read anymore due to macular degeneration (a problem
that takes away vision) and I know she would like the book. We
have been buying her CD’s or tapes in book form so that she
can continue her "reading". I would like to know if I
could get your book on CD for her. Thank you for the enjoyment
you bring into my house with your radio show on KDYL in Salt Lake
City.
Sincerely,
Caroline Gallucci Throckmorton
Hi Caroline,
Thank you for your letter. It’s great to hear
you enjoy the radio show and that you’re going to get
my book and CD. I’m happy to tell you we are currently
working on the audio version of my book. As soon as
it is available, I will post that information on www.DeanaMartin.com. Thank
you again.
Deana
Dear Deana,
We plan to attend the tribute to Dean Martin in 2007 and need
dates to book early and arrange vacation please forward 2007 dates.
Dawne Bozzato
Hi Dawne,
The dates for the 2007 Dean Martin Festival are June 14,
15, 16 & 17. I look forward to seeing you there.
Deana
Dear Deana,
What happened? For some time I have enjoyed you and John in the
am on WIOX, Southern Pines, NC. Now Carl Hampton?
You and John brightened my mornings with your music and stories
of your "Uncles". Your dad and his dad and your growing
up in Southern California. Will you be back?
What stores carry your CD? I love your rendition of “Amore".
Will you do any duets with dad?
God bless,
Donald G. Bartrip
Pinehurst, NC
Hi Donald,
This happens sometimes in radio, I’m sorry to say,
but there is a solution. Our show is also available over the
Internet, so you can listen online at musicofyourlife.com or
kixi.com. My show is on from 6:00 am to 10:00 am est.,
Monday through Friday. Please let me know how this works
for you. The CD is available wherever music is sold or
online at places like amazon.com or itunes.
Deana
Hello Deana,
I am a Police Captain for the city of Seaside, on the Monterey
coast in California and for the last five years I have lived next
door in Carmel. As a hobby, I am also proudly the one person who
sings your father's tunes at Clint Eastwood's piano bar, the Mission
Ranch in Carmel. A great place! The reason I sing his songs,
among others, is this: I am the son of a man named Guy Cercone. Guy
grew up across the river from Steubenville, in Follansbee, WV back
in the 20's and 30's. My dad used to get his haircuts from your
grandfather and all I heard about growing up was about that circle
of people down there. So, highly influenced, I am now the
Dean Martin stand-in at the mission ranch and I could not be happier
to do it! I hope to get out to the festival one of these
years. In the meantime, if you and your husband ever get out to
Carmel or Monterey, please let me know and give me a call! I read
your book a few months ago and it was fantastic! You sound
like a member of my family and it was heartwarming to read about
your life with your dad. Take care and I hope to see you some day!
Steve Cercone
Hi Deana,
Loved your book about your father, especially after reading the
unfair pejoratives of biographers like Shawn Levy and the like.
For me, the essence of Dean Martin was when he sang solo on the
couch or by the piano on the set of his popular TV show. I remember
it well watching almost every week, and being moved by the intimacy
of it all and how revealing it was of Dean the man. The duets were
great too, but Dean really shined when he sang alone on that couch
and by the piano. I wish I could have seen him live in a small,
intimate setting like a nightclub. No Jerry to interrupt him and
no "Rat Pack" to do the same. Just Dean by himself singing
a great pop standard to his appreciative audience who knew his
immense talent as it especially shined during these moments. I
will never forget it and it’s sad TV is so different today
with nothing even remotely like it. My parents were born in 1915
and that generation sadly will never ever be equaled in any way.
I greatly miss my parents every day I’m alive, and I miss
your father too as they surely were irreplaceable by any future
generations. I’m afraid nothing like them will ever walk
this earth again. For sure a unique time and place in our history.
Sincerely,
Michael Sheedy
Hi Deana,
I am wondering if there is a schedule of events on the 12th Annual
Dean Martin Festival. Please advise. This is the first
I will be attending & am very excited about receiving all the

time & assistance.
Sincerely,

Hi Deana,
I some times can't help but miss seeing your dad on TV, the movies.
Thank you so much for your thoughts in “Memories Are Made
Of This”. When and where is the 2007 Dean Martin Festival?
Thank you so much.

Deana
Dear Deana,
I am missing you & John on the Music Of Your Life radio show. Seems
like it's been a couple of weeks that you two are not hosting the
8 am thru 10 a.m. Morning show. Are you and John on vacation? Please
tell me you are both coming back. I really do miss you both.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Berry
Dear Deana,
I just wanted to thank you for sharing a part of your life with
us. I read your book in 4 hours. A first time 'author'
that came across so excellently is just unbelievable. I have two
daughters in Las Vegas. They are watching the papers for your show. I
will send them the money for them and their husbands to attend
and give me a step-by-step review of what I know will be a wonderful
experience. Do you have any dates for Las Vegas? I live in
the Seattle/Tacoma, Washington area. Will you be bringing
your show to WA? One of my goals is to make the 'festival' in Ohio. One
way or another, I’d like to have your book autographed.
God bless to you and your family.
Rudy
Hi Deana,
Did you come to Washington State like you said? Unfortunately,
I never got to see you. Anyway, I liked your book. Your dad
was one of my favorite people.
Take care,
Debby Lacey
Washington
Hi Debby,
Unfortunately, our show like many others was rained out for
the season and therefore the promoter had to cancel. We are
rescheduling for the fall of 2007. As soon as the dates are
inked I will post them on my website at DeanaMartin.com and
look at tours & events.
Deana
Dear Deana,
Don’t have a question for you. Just wanted you to know how
much I love listening to you on the Music Of Your Life. I travel
from South Portland, Maine to work in Dover, NH and just love you
guys. I am a trumpet player and am 60 years old so I know the big
band era. Played in a few locally when I was younger, about the
same age les started out at.
Richard Henward
Hi Deana,
I really just have a statement for you. I just finished your book.
I have to say, I don't read many books and I laughed and even had
a tear or two. It was very good. One more little detail if you
wanted to know. I was told I had Multiple Sclerosis 5 years ago.
I just have to say because of the variety shows and CD's of your
fathers I don't even think about my illness when watching and listening
to them. Just wanted to let you know.
Bless you.
Jane Stacherski
Michigan
Hi Deana!
I enjoy you and John in the morning. I hear you at 3:00 am. When
you mentioned John Mill's daughters you said Hayley and Donna.
Hayley is right, but Donna is not. His other daughter is Juliet.
Donna Mills was one of the ladies on Knots Landing. I hope I have
cleared things up. I listen to you on KKAD in Portland, OR.
Nancy Fandrem
Dear Deana,
I recently re-discovered your father’s music. What
a voice! I grew up watching, listening and laughing with
your father (and singing along, not as well though). I will
be purchasing your book soon. Thanks for sharing him with
the world. I only live about a 1/2 hour from Steubenville,
Ohio when is the next Dean Martin Festival?
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
The 2007 Dean Martin Festival in Steubenville will be held
this year on June 14th through the 17th. You can get
the current activities on:

Deana
Dear Deana,
I am adopted and just found out that I was born Maria Grossetti.
My boss just met you at a book signing and you had mentioned that
your dad's real name was "Grossetti". What I am trying
to find out is if it is the same name and spelling as my name before
I was adopted. I would really be interested to find out. Thank
you. Even though I am only 42 years old, I loved your dad and his
music. My son is now in a singing group at his high school and
they feature Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra songs in their performances.
It is truly a joy.
Thank you,
Teresa Perkins
Hi Teresa,
My dad was born “Dino Crocetti”. I hope
this helps you.
Deana
Hi Deana,
In your book memories..." you mention that you treasure the
last bottle of Woodhue men's cologne...that reminded of your dad.
This cologne is for on-line. I was going to send you a bottle...but
I didn't know if you would actually get it. I have been a long
time fan of your father ever since discovering him. (I’m
42). I enjoyed all aspects of his career from TV shows, movies,
music, etc. He really was magical. I wish I had had the chance
to see him live or with the Rat Pack etc. Thanks for keeping his
memory alive. Great book!
Thanks.
Sue Mcallister
Hi Deana,
Just want to say hello, I tried to e-mail before, but it was not
delivered. I really enjoyed your morning show with John but for
some reason the station is no longer carrying the show.
What a let down as you two in the morning really was a lift.
It was a wonderful way to start my day. The station for some reason
is not listed so I am not able to find out why they stopped the
show. The "Music Of Your Life " is still being carried
but now it is Chuck with the morning program. He is very good but
cannot compare to you and John. Maybe some day I will find a station
that is carrying your program. The call letters are WTLB, Oswego,
NY. My name is Frank Bratjan; I am 71 years old, married to my
wife Roberta for 50 years. We live in Brewerton New York about
20 miles north of Syracuse.
Thank you and stay well.
Frank Bratjan
Dear Deana,
I just read your book and loved every honest and beautifully written
page. I love your dad and his music so much. Thanks for the
great insight on the man I call "Velvet Voice"
Regards,
Renee S.
Hi Deana,
I know that Christmas must be a sad day for you and your family. My
father lost his mother at age twelve on morning of Christmas Eve
from strepthroat in 1931. No warning. I have two older brothers,
our dad died in June of 1998 at age 78(after being diagnosed with
cancer from his WWII and Korean War days, he only lived three weeks.
Mom died in July of 2004 at age 85. Dad sadly for my oldest
brother passed away on his birthday. I am sure that day has
to be bittersweet for him. I miss my parents with all my heart...they
adopted me from Athens, Greece when I was 16 months old, while
they were stationed with the us army in Ankara, Turkey.... but
I will also be thinking of you and yours this Christmas. My parents
were my best friends and I’m sure that you parents were your
best friends too. To be honest, my parents love Martin and Lewis...but
after they split they were more fans of your dad's. They
loved his music and Franks.
Debby Kydland
Hi Deana,
The other day I was watching the last hour of the cable channel "E
Hollywood" and it was about your father. I miss the first
hour of the show. I didn't know this show was about Mr. Dean Martin.
You and your mother both looked beautiful. I really enjoyed the
1-hour I saw of the show. Do you know how I can get a copy of this
show? If so, please let me know. I finally got to see the Les Brown
Show on Tuesday and to my surprise you were not there. I asked
and someone said you might have been there for a little while and
the other person (they worked at the theater) said you could not
come, because your husband was involved in a big project. My question
to you is, will you every come to visit Branson? If so can you
let me know where and when? Have you considered my idea of you
doing a song with your father as Nataile Cole did with her father?
I think this would be a great tribute to your father and I believe
this would make him happy. May he rest in peace. Thank you for
taking the time to read my e-mail.
Donald Lennon
Hi Donald,
I tour a great deal but I am currently performing in concert
with Les Brown and His Band Of Renown on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Saturday evenings in Branson, MO. I hope you have
an opportunity to see our show. I would love to do a duet with
my father.
Deana
Dear Deana,
I love your dad and Frank Sinatra with all my heart. There are
a lot of rumors about their last years together. I hope you can
tell us the truth. I hope these great loveable guys were blood
brothers right to the end. God bless you!
With kind regards,
Art Laferte
The Netherlands
Hi Art,
They were indeed like brothers. On my Father’s passing
Frank said, “We were’nt brothers by blood, we were
brothers by choice…he was the air that I breathe.”
Deana
Dear Deana,
We met at the book signing at Borders in Cincinnati. I’m
the one who gave you the packet from Samantha Carlson from New
York. I know that you're very busy, but I hope you'll take the
time to listen to this kid. She has the voice of an angel and she
loves your dad. She's been on TV and radio in the NY area and has
won several talent contests. On Christmas day, Samantha and her
family lights a candle for three special people in their lives
and your dad is one of them. I forgot to mention to you that I
have three people in my family with a June 7th birth date, my son,
Tony, my Uncle Frank, and my Grandmother Rosa. My friend Samantha
is only 17 and wants a singing career interpreting the standards.
She currently sings at La Novella's on Long Island. Please give
her a listen. You won't be disappointed.
Take care and God bless,
Jim
Dear Deana,
This e-mail is from an Iraqi old fan of your dad, the great Dean
Martin. We enjoyed every song and every film he made. We would
like to thank you and may our Lord bless his soul. We send our
love.
Odal Kafagi
Hi Deana,
Which is the correct date for Dean's birthday??? Some have it
as the 7th & others say 17th!!! Could you please tell me which
is it?
Many thanks.
Kathy McCrae.
Hi Kathy,
My father’s was born on June 7, 1917 in Steubenville,
Ohio.
Deana
Dear Deana;
I hope this holiday season finds you and your family happy, healthy
and looking forward to a peaceful period. I do know it is a difficult
time of the year for you to be in a festive mood. My wife Judy
and I met you and John at a book signing in Sarasota, FL, you signed
my book to "dad's biggest fan" you are a very gracious
lady. I loved the book! And it seems that you have started a cottage
industry! I, from time to time order items on-line and I am on
their e-mail list. I was shocked to open the latest e-mail ad,
which was for Woodhue! Yes, that's right Woodhue. The ad starts
off..."one of many customers wrote us in search of the woody
floral fragrance. Called a "whimsical, flirty, lighthearted
hit of the 1950's. A Delores Russell of Huntington Beach, CA, said "it
was such fun to say as a question, 'would you?' when asked it's
name... "Under the wooden top is the sweet yet spicy sent
of Woodhue"...with a picture of the bottle. If you can't get
a copy of the ad send me a fax number or e-mail where I can send
an attachment and I will gladly forward it. You should get royalties
on this because I’m sure you started this the ad does not
mention you or dad but I thought you would get a kick out of it.
George and Judy Aquila
Hi Deana,
My name is Mark Pinto and I’m 41 years old, I lost my father
to Lou Gehrig's Disease in 1997 and I miss him terribly. My dad
and I used to roll on the floor with laughter watching the "Roasts" when
I was a kid...it's among my most fondest memories I have of him.
I’ve always "liked" your dad's music... But until
I read your book...and was astonished to see how much alike your
dad was to mine and how many similarities that I, myself share
with your dad...(love of westerns, family dinners, etc.) It's made
me want to find out more about him and the kind of person he was.
And the more I found out...the more I liked him...not only as a
performer, but also as a man. I’ve read Ricci's book and
most recently, Jerry Lewis' (yours is the best...but don't tell
them I said so!!) I’m now a huge fan of not only Dean Martin
the singer/entertainer but also Dean Martin the man himself...and
I love your dad not only because of the person he was, but also
how much he reminds me of my dad and the wonderful memories we
shared together. I’m planning to come to the 2007 festival
in Steubenville with your book in tow and I hope to have you sign
it for me. Thank you for this opportunity to email you directly
and thank you for all that you and your husband do to keep your
dad's memory alive for all of us to cherish and enjoy!
Mark Pinto
Dear Deana,
Not a question but a comment. Watched Jerry Lewis on Larry King
this evening. I am 56 and grew up with Jerry Lewis movies
but not so much their act. I love watching it now. I always loved
your father's voice. He was in my opinion the no.1 crooner. Also
he wasn't bad to gaze upon. Good luck to you and with Jerry's book
on his friend Dean.
