July 2006

Hello Deana,

I just wanted to tell you how much I admire your father and how what a terrific lady I think you are. I've seen you many times on television and really enjoyed your book "Memories Are Made of This." I was so totally engrossed that I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. Your Grandma Angela's Pasta Fagioli recipe is out of this world! Thank you so much for sharing this secret family recipe with us all. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences growing up with such an entertainment icon as you Dad. I have read that you are very supportive of the fans around the world and just reading your wonderful comments here shows just how kind and thoughtful you are. I recently created a Group about your Dad called "Dean Martin Forever" and I would truly be honored if you would be so kind as to pay us a visit. Drop by anytime, Deana - our house is your house!

Much Love to you from,
Kim

Hi Kim,

I will be happy to drop in and pay you a visit. Thank you for creating the "Dean Martin Forever" group and for your invitation. I’ll see you there.

Deana

Hi Deana,

Steve Sears here. "Memories Are Made Of This" was a wonderful book. It was wonderfully honest, and for that I admire you. You bared much between the covers and proved a few things. One, no family, even the well known, are perfect. Two, we all have certain skeletons, perhaps, that eventually are released and, when done so, we feel the better for it. But most of all, we got to know your Dad. Celebrity, yes, but a Dad as well. May all families be as loving.

All my best to you, Deana, and your family,
Steve Sears

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your comments. Well said.

Deana

Hello Deana,

I just finished reading your book and I enjoyed it very much. I am a big fan of your dad's and Frank Sinatra. I wish I could have met them in person. I can't wait to try the recipe on your Dad's favorite Pasta Fagioli.

Thanks,
Gabe

Dear Deana,

I heard about the Tuscany trip this morning on my way to work. I searched the musicofyourlife.com website and couldn't find any information. How do I find the information on this fantastic-sounding trip?

Thanks,
Debbie Yancey

Hi Debbie,

Information about the trip can be found on the following web site:  http://www.clubabc.com/?action=music. I look forward to meeting you in Tuscany.

Deana

Hi Deana:

I’m so thrilled to have found your great web site. I just finished reading your book about your father and I totally enjoyed it and am excited to start reading it again as it was so enjoyable and interesting. It would be awesome if you could write an Italian cookbook and include all your fathers, and yours, favorite recipes. I know if you did such a thing I’d be the first one in line to buy a copy!! One last thing -- would it be possible to get your autograph?? I’d be so happy to have it and it’s my wish that I hear back from you and learn how I could possibly have it. So, keep up the great work and may god bless you always.

Hi Deana,

I have loved your father for as long as I can remember. I remember my mother and father listening to his records when I was very young, and have enjoyed his music, movies and television shows since. I just finished your book "Memories are made of This", and I have to tell you, it usually takes me months to get through one book. I'm not a big reader, but I couldn't put your book down. I loved every minute of it. I loved your book, I loved your dad, what else can I say.

Madel

Hi Madel,

You’ve said it beautifully.

Dear Deana

Just had to let you know how much I enjoyed your concert in Steubenville. I didn't realize you had THAT MUCH talent. For me, other than winning a prized stepping stone likeness of your dad in the live auction Saturday, YOUR SHOW (& specifically your duet with DAD) was the highlight of the weekend. I bought your CD and what a treat. I listened to it twice on my 6-hour drive ride home to Gilbertsville, PA. I loved the arrangements. This was a tour-de-force effort. I congratulate you on your winning CD. I particularly loved TIME AFTER TIME with Jerry but was disappointed the WELCOME TO MY WORLD duet with Dean wasn't included on the CD. In my opinion, THAT DUET IS ON A PAR WITH NATALIE COLE'S duet with her dad on UNFORGETTABLE. PLEASE..., PRETTY, PRETTY PLEASE MAKE "WTMW" AVAILABLE as a single. Now, THAT'S AMORE. I'd love to have that playing in my car! I'd pay $20 for that song alone! Thanks for listening and keeping your dad's music & memory alive!

Love Ya,
Ed Greth

Hi Ed,

I am currently working with Capitol Records to make the duet with my Father a reality. Thank you for your kind words and your good wishes and I will let you know when it’s going to happen.

Deana

Hi Deana,

I just finished reading your book about your Dad. Excellent, excellent!! I'm amongst the many fans of your father that thought he was the best. My husband recently passed and we played Dean's music at the hospital, the services and also at my husband's memorial luncheon. We loved your Dad so much, he meant our youth, our love, our wonderful memories. I was thrilled when I saw your book in the store and couldn't help but buy it especially after my recent loss. Thank you so much for your memories.

My best to you and your family.
Dolly

Hi Dolly,

“Our youth, our love and our wonderful memories.” I will always remember your words. You’ve touched my heart. I’m honored to hear you played my Father’s music for your husband. Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories.

Deana

Deana,

I just wanted to let you know that I just finished your book and I loved it so much. Thank you for the very personal insight into the real Dean Martin. I have loved him and his music for years. I grow up watching his show and I always felt like a part of a very neat party. Thank you again for sharing and being so honest and open about your life.

Lorrie

Hi Lorrie,

It was a very difficult and cathartic process, but now that it’s over I can finally say…you’re welcome.

Deana

Hello Deana,

That was a great concert that you put on and it was great that you made it free to the public. This festival does a lot for the city of Steubenville to honor Steubenville’s favorite son. Thank you for all you did for the people of the city. I hope that you two have a good time in Italy at the music show.

Love,
Frankie DiCArlantonio

Hi Frankie,

It’s always nice to hear from you and thank you for your kind words. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the concert. I must say, you were wonderful on stage singing ‘Memories Are Made Of This’ and ‘That’s Amore’. We hope to see you again next June.

Deana

Hi Deana,

I just finished your book and wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it. Will you be coming to Atlanta any time soon?

Sherry

Hi Sherry,

My husband and I love Atlanta and are currently organizing a Nation wide tour of the US. I’ll post my itinerary as soon as we solidify the dates. Thank you for asking.

Deana

Hi Deana,

First of all may God bless you & your family always. I am 36 years old and recently discovered your father's music & movies about 2 years ago. I could never find the words to tell you how much I love Dean's music & his very essence. He brings me much joy & happiness. Dean was quite a charming persona. I also want to commend you on your most excellent book " Memories are made of this." I was captivated by it, and I could not put it down. As I was reading it, I almost felt like a part of the Martin family. It was very descriptive, heart felt & emotionally charged. Very Simply, it is wonderful. In closing, almost every day at work I listen to Dean's live music on my CD player. I have tried to find as many of his live performances that I can, but I am always wanting more. Could you please tell me if Capitol or any other companies plan to do any future releases of Dean's live concert performances? Thank you for your time & consideration. Your father's music will always be a part of my life & at work, while I am restoring vintage Gibson guitars here in Nashville, TN. Love & blessings to you Deana. By the way, do you plan to sing anytime soon again with Jerry Lewis?

All the best,
Phillip Crabtree

Hi Phillip,

‘Descriptive, heart felt and emotionally charged’ was my goal. You’ve made me very proud. Thank you for your wonderfully insightful comments. I’m not certain if Capitol is planning any more live performance releases but we can hope. Thank you for your email and keep restoring those vintage Gibsons. Send us your phone number and the next time we are in Nashville we will give you a call.

Deana

Hello Deana,

I have just read your book and absolutely loved it! I grew up in a small town in NC during the 60's and I was always watching westerns and mystery/intrigue movies, but the one TV show that I loved was the Dean Martin Show. My folks had several of his albums that I still have and thankfully, have on CD so that I don't wear them out! Your Dad's style and music has meant a lot to me. It is simple yet tasteful and refined. Outside of my family, the men that I have grown up admiring the most are John Wayne, your Dad and Theodore Roosevelt. Men who lived life with a passion, who were good at what they did and had pride in what they did and took life by the horns and met the challenge. Not perfect, by any means, but not weak or apologetic. They were men. I have looked to them, along with my Dad and Grandfathers and have gone through life trying to meet it head on, with intelligence and fortitude. I work for the US Govt. and deal with the issues that face us in today's world about terrorism and our safety. When I need that relaxing break that allows me to recharge, I will put in the CD player of my car either a greatest hits album of your Dad's or a "Live at the Sands" CD of Dean, Frank and Sammy. It is a big help. Thank you for sharing your story. You are a very strong person and, I feel, very wise for not being bitter about the times that were not what you had hoped. You maintain a positive outlook and look to the future. You and I were raised alike in that respect. If I may be so bold as to paraphrase one of your loved ones, I too, work with aviation in my job and when you look to the sky "I'll be up there protecting you and the USA" for all of us. Maybe my wife, Sue and I will be able to meet you one day. For us, it would be an honor. May you and your family have health, happiness and always, love.

Very Respectfully,
George A. Bulgin
Fort Worth, TX

Hi George,

You’re letter is so touching. Thank you for sharing your insights with me. I look forward to meeting you and Sue in the not so distant future. Send me your phone number. God bless you and all the men and women you work with for keeping our country and us safe.

Deana

Deana,

This is Sherri. I saw at Vermontcountrystore.com you can still get the cologne your father wore. I just thought you might like to know! I know I would.

Sherri Lippoldt

Hi Sherri,

Thank you for the information.
