Hello Deana,
Four of us went to the Grand Palace to see you
and Regis singing. We just loved you two together. You look like
you’ve been doing it for quite a while, have you? Where will
you be performing next? If it’s close by, we would love to
come again. Please come back and bring some of your new CD’s.
We would all like to have one. Thank you also for taking all the
photos with us after the show. You were just so sweet to do that
for us. We will always remember your kindness. Hoping to see and
hear you again soon.
Darlene and the girls.
Hello Darlene and the girls,
It was my pleasure to take the photos
with you and if you will send copies, I will try to post them
on my web site. I enjoyed singing with Regis and it was certainly
a lot of fun. All future appearances will be listed on my website
and I will also mention them on my radio show. My new CD will
be released this June. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the show.
Deana
Hi Deana
You mention an address on the show where you're giving away
copies of your book. I'd love to enter. The NYC address was said by Les so
fast I couldn't write it down. Love you and Les's show and, I have to say,
your husband has the sexiest voice on the air. Can't mention any particular
song of your father's I like best. I LOVE them all.!!!!
Thanks for starting my day on a great note.
Hear you on The Bay (1400) out of Portland Maine.
Barbara Hurst, Kennebunk
Hi Barbara,
I couldn't agree with you more, my husband does
have the sexiest voice on the air. You are now entered in the drawing and
I hope you will be one of the lucky 75 winners who will receive a copy
my best selling book "Memories Are Made Of This." Thanks for
listening to our show on "The Music Of Your Life" and thank you
for your kind words.
Best Regards,
Deana
Hello Deana,
My wife and I attended your concert in Chicago and we really
loved it. You have a fabulous voice and it was a great show. Your dad would
be very proud. Thank you. I recently received your book “Memories Are
Made Of This” for my birthday and can honestly say it’s the greatest
Dean Martin book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read them all. As you
can tell, I’m a huge fan of your fathers and always have been. He was
the greatest entertainer period, and like you say in your book, he was ‘The
King Of Cool.’
Are you planning to perform in our area again anytime soon? If so I would love
for you to autograph your book for me. It would mean a lot.
Thanks again and hurry back soon,
Anthony
Hi Anthony,
I am very happy to hear you enjoyed my show and
my book. I have been asked to do another concert in Chicago this June.
As soon as the date is set, I will post it here on my website. I hope to
see you and your wife there and don’t forget to bring your book.
Deana
Dear Deana,
I just watched the A&E Biography about Dean Martin and
I really enjoyed it. You are such a beautiful and loving daughter and I know
your dad is looking down and smiling. You seem to have the same wonderful personality
your father always had on his television show. We never missed seeing him on
Thursdays. We would have our entire family watching and laughing. I just loved
it when he would sit on the couch and sing. We miss him. Thank you for all
you do in keeping his memory alive.
God Bless you,
Deborah
Hi Deborah,
I am happy to hear you enjoyed the A&E Biography.
I am always happy to talk about my father and help share his magic.
Deana
Hi Deana,
Can you say exactly where you’ll be signing in the UK?
Gina
Hi Gina,
We hope this summer and I will keep you posted via
my website. Thank you for asking.
Deana
Hi Deana!!!
I just read the last page of your book, and just had to drop
you a note to let you know how much I absolutely loved it! I've always loved
your father’s music &
movies. It was so nice to get "to know" his children as well. Congratulations
on your pilot’s license. Also I'm so happy about your marriage to John.
You waited for years for the "right one". Blessings &
good luck to you and your family!
Annette Goodin
Dear Deana,
I thank you from my heart for sharing the life of a man who
gave me and my six brothers and sisters great moments of happiness and joy.
I grew up with your dad from the late 40's, first in the movies and then on
TV. Your book was not only a tribute to your dad, but a tribute to a women
who graced his memory by sharing his life, mother Betty's, Jeanne’s and
your brother's and sister's lives with his adoring fans. There are no questions
for me to ask about your dad. Your writings about him touched my heart deeply
and let me know everything I needed to, along with the many others who had
the good sense to read it. I feel you should publicize the book more. This
is a book that should be read by every one 18 and older, I feel it will better
help them understand their parents in a way to enable them to appreciate how
parents love and care for them in different ways, although not seeing it as
they are growing up. I’m 62 now, and after reading your book, I realized
after all these years I shared some of the same events with my parents. And
because of your book, I now think differently of them, in a better way. May
God continue to bless you and you beautiful family.
"Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes" but everyone loved Dino Crocetti,
and will love him always and for all times.
God love you,
Tony
Hi Tony,
Thank you for your beautiful letter. I can see that
you truly understand what motivated me to write this book.
Deana
Dear Deana,
My name is Deena. My father was a big Dean Martin fan and
named me after you, but spelled it slightly different. He has been a huge fan
of your fathers since the 60's. I am also a big Dean Martin fan and have all
his albums. My father tells me how when he was overseas in the navy during
Vietnam, the troops would gather around and watch your father’s variety
show. They waited every week for it to come on. My father told me to tell you
and your family God bless. He is about finished with your book and thinks it's
fantastic. I am next to read it and I can't wait. Thank you.
Deena
Prunedale, CA
Hi Deena,
Please send my love to your father. It warms my
heart to know that my father was able to bring joy to our troops. There
is not enough that we can do for our men and women in uniform anywhere
in the world, anytime we can.
Deana
Dear Deana,
Where do I send my entry for the contest you are having to
try to win a copy of your book "Memories Are Made of This"?
Here is my cute story about your dad:
When my husband (Glenn) and I first met about 35 years ago,
I was a dark-haired Italian from New York and he was from Maryland's Eastern
shore, (where Italians were a rare find). In fact, the only Italian he ever
heard of was, of course, Dean Martin. So, Glenn would always call me "Dino".
I greatly admire your dad so I didn't mind it at all. I thought it was rather
cute. Anyway, we got married and when we had our first child (29 years ago)
we wanted to name her something close to Dino so we chose Dina. She loves the
story of her name and your dad's music. Dina was just married this past September
and several of Dean's songs just had to be played at the wedding. Dina has
a beautiful wedding video and at the beginning there is a photomontage of her
and her husband growing up. Naturally, "Memories Are Made Of This" is
the song that she chose for the background music. I have always enjoyed your
dad's music, his show and his movies. He has been and will always remain a
part of my life and my family's. Thanks for listening. And I do enjoy you on
the radio as well. Great job!
Yours truly,
Rosy Ball
Hi Rosy,
You are now entered. I wish you the best of luck
in the drawing and I hope you win a copy of my book.
Deana
Hi Deana,
Your book was great. It brought back fond memories, like his
cashmere sweaters and that wonderful cologne of his, and his cars (I also remember,
from way back, a very unusual white, wood-paneled Cadillac station wagon) and
clarified many things for me. Thank you so much for that.
Your father was enigmatic, but good to the core. I wish there
were more like him, especially in today's world. Sometimes I wonder what he
would think of life today, with all the computers, technology, etc. I don't
think he would like it much. He once told me he didn't like "progress",
and he was right! He had a lot of wisdom, although he didn't say much.
Your book was very well written (I’m an English professor
now.) I’m sure your father would be really proud of all you've become
in life, against the odds. As someone who once knew him, I can also tell, not
just from your looks, but also from between the lines of your book, that you
have inherited all the best of everything from him.
Thanks again, so much, for the book. It's a gift.
Sincerely,
Taz
Hi Taz,
It’s wonderful to hear from you. Thank you
for your wonderful insights into my book. It touched me coming not only
from an English professor but a friend of my father’s. I hope we’ll
talk soon.
Deana
Hi Deana,
It was great to see all of you good luck with the book if
there is anything that I can do to help please let me know. I listed your book
on our website and linked our sites. Thanks Sal. Let me know if you received
the photos.

Hi Sal,
It’s great to hear from. We can’t wait
to come back to New York and visit you, Joe and the gang at Patsy’s.
It’s absolutely one of our favorite restaurants in the entire world.
I’ve made quite a few of the recipes from your
“Patsy’s Cookbook” and recommend it highly to everyone.
Much love to Joe, Chef Sal and the entire Scognamillo
Family.
Deana
Hi There Deana,
We say you in concert at the Paramount Theatre. Wow what an
amazing show. You are your father’s daughter-man can you sing. We haven’t
stopped talking about it. Michael M. does sound a lot like you know who? And
the band was awesome. When are you coming back to New York? My mom and dad
are kicking themselves for not being there. They had previous plans but promise
when you come back they will cancel anything to be there. Everyone here is
talking non-stop about your show. They were talking about you on the radio
all day. They were playing your dad’s music and they should be playing
yours. You said something about a new CD coming out. When will it be available?
We want one, or better two, cause one will be for my folks. Can I get them
somewhere now? We look forward to seeing you again next time you come to town.
Thanks for a terrific show.
Don and Cindi
Hi Don and Cindi,
I am very happy to hear you enjoyed the show. It
was so much fun to perform with my friends the extremely talented Sid Mark
and Michael Martocci. The band was wonderful because another dear friend,
the extremely talented Vinnie Falcone, conducted it. We will be doing another
concert in Atlantic City this June. It’s still in the planning stages
but as soon as it is signed, I will post it here on my web site. My new
CD will be released this June. Please send my love to your parents and
I look forward to seeing them on our next visit.
Deana
Hello Deana,
Everyone at our office just loves your radio show on ‘Music
Of Your Life’. You and Les are so good together, but my favorite is when
John does the show with you. All the girls just love to listen to his sexy
voice. One of our girls, Linda says she thinks it’s your husband. Is
that true? Tell him he has his own little fan club with us girls in Portland.
Please ask him to say our names next time he is on, we’d just love it.
We are Jenny, Teri, Linda M and Linda R, Bonnie and Judith.
We will be waiting…John. Thank you too Deana.
Hi Jenny, Teri, Linda M, Linda R, Bonnie and Judith,
I am very happy to have you listening to our show
on Music Of Your Life. And yes, that handsome voice is just as handsome
in person, and one of the Linda’s is correct. I am very proud to
say that he is my wonderful husband John. When Les is not available, John
is happy to sit in, and we have a wonderful time. Keep listening.
Deana
Hi Deana,
You sweet and lucky woman!!
I just read your entire book in 3 days. I would have given anything to be in
your shoes. Your book was the best "daughter" book that I have
read and thank you for the recipe at the end. You are a sweet woman and I
am so glad you are continuing with your father's legacy. He would be very
proud of you for that. You know that, right? I would like to drive to Steubenville,
oh next summer in 2006. Has the committee decided what weekend it will be
so I can start planning?
Thank you Deana for all your hard work. Your father was the best, no other
word for him, the best!
Carol Ivy,
Jacksonville, Florida
Hi Carol,
Thank you for your kind words. To answer your question,
yes, in my heart I do know that my dad is proud of me. But when you hear
it from someone else, it makes all the hard work worthwhile. The Dean Martin
Festival is June 16, 17 and 18 this year and I would love to meet you there.
Deana
Dear Deana,
This is a personal letter from me to you. I know Friday August
19 is your birthday. I go to the Dean Martin Festival with your cousin Guy
Crocetti, I’m Rick Juchnik from Allentown, PA. I want to wish you a very
happy birthday
& many more & the best of health to you, John and the rest of your
family. I enjoyed reading your book “Memories Are Made Of This” Thank-you
for signing it for me on Saturday 6/18 in Steubenville. Your cousin Guy and
Bob Martin took pictures of you and me. Having a signed copy of your book is
something I'll always treasure. Guy and I plan to go to the 2006 festival and
are looking forward to seeing you & John.
Best wishes always,
Rick Juchnik
Hi Rick,
I look forward to seeing you at the festival again
this year.
Deana
Hi Deana!
Can you tell me where I might find a framed gold (or platinum?)
Record of your father's for my collection?
Glen
Hi Deana,
First I would like to say I loved your dad-so handsome, a
great singer-just my idea of the perfect man. Hope to get him for
Myself in my next life!
Seriously, how can I get a signed copy of your book? I am a big fan of your
dad's and with each book I have read about him, I have become an even bigger
fan. Seems almost everyone loved and admired him.
Best of luck to you,
Judy
Hi Judy,
First of all, thank you for your kind words about
my father. As for signing your book, in what part of the country do you
reside? I am constantly on either a concert tour or a book tour and I would
be happy to let you know when we are going to be in your area. I will definitely
be at the Dean martin Festival in Steubenville, Ohio this June where I
will be performing in concert. If you would like me to sign your book sooner
than that please let me know and I will do what I can to help make arrangements.
Deana
Deana,
I watched Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis' movies growing up.
I never knew who Dean's first wife was or why they separated? Can you tell
me? Thank you!
Ann
Hi Ann,
My father’s first wife and my mother was the
beautiful Elizabeth (Betty) McDonald Martin. It’s all in my best
selling book, “Memories Are Made Of This.”
Deana
Hi Deana,
I wonder what your father thought about Jerry Lewis' act the
first time he saw it. Do you know?
Thank you!
Ron
Hi Ron,
He thought it was very funny.
Deana
Hello Deana,
I hope you and your family are well.
Recently PBS broadcast some old vintage movies of Dean singing
various hits. A couple times he sang to a little girl who they only said was
his daughter. Which daughter appeared with your dad on this show? It didn't
look like you - my bet is it was Claudia - but I’m not sure.
Thanks!!
Ron
Hi Ron,
We don’t know who the little girl was but
she was definitely not a daughter or a family member.
Deana
Dear Deana,
I am writing with the hope to get some info about Dean Martin's
ancestors. My cousin in Italy has made some research and it looks like Dean
is linked to my family. Don't ask me the exact details. However it seems that
one of my father’s aunt's sons left for the US, and his wife's brother
was named Crocietti. My grandparents were Antonio and Elvira Lavigna Marchese.
My dad was born in 1935 in Castelfidardo (l'Aquila/Italy). He had 7 brothers
and 1 sister. My dad left Italy around 1952 and came to GD Luxembourg.
I am looking forward to hear from.
Thank you very much.
Laurent
Hi Laurent,
My father’s family name was Crocetti, from
Montesilvano, in the Province of Pescara of Pescara.
Deana
Dear Deana,
Your dad has been my hero for since the early 1960s. I loved
his TV show and still do (I have the DVDs). He was the coolest most elegant
and handsome guy that ever lived. I loved the tuxedo he wore each week along
with his butterfly bowtie (which he tied himself) and the red silk pocket square
he wore. Nobody looked as elegant as he did. I am a 62-year-old entertainer
myself. I play flamenco guitar. My desire is to wear a tuxedo and bowtie like
your dad wore at some of my gigs. Do you know what brand of tuxedo he wore?
I am also a stage, theatrical, and classic portrait photographer. Most of my
clients are doctors. I do large formal family portraits on canvas that I shoot
on an old 8x10 camera. My teacher 40 years ago was Clarence Bull of MGM fame.
He did the stills for ‘Gone With The Wind’ and was Garb’s
favorite photographer. He taught me the old Hollywood style of photography.
I wish to wear my tux when photographing on location in the elegant homes of
some of my clients. (I can email you samples of my work if you like) I would
really like to know who made your dad's tux for him.
Thank you and God bless.
Antonio
Hi Antonio,
It was the fabulous Sy Devore in Beverly Hills,
CA that made his tuxedos and his suits.
Deana
Hi Deana,
I just read your book and I am so honored that you mentioned
me!! That was so sweet. I hope you and John are well. Since I retired from
Steubenville police dept, I have been the security director at a beautiful
resort here in Casa Grande, Arizona.
I would love to invite you here to visit. Please check the web site at franciscogrande.com.
Again, thank you for everything and take care. You're very special.
Roger Badger
Hi Roger,
OK, so go ahead and invite me. It’s so good
to hear from you. You do realize you must return to Steubenville for the
Dean Martin Festival, because what will we do without you? Please keep
in touch and best of luck in Casa Grande.
Deana
Dear Deana:
I just finished your wonderful book on your father and what
a story. I didn't want it to end. What a life you had! I knew about the death
of Dean Paul but never knew about your sister Claudia. A double tragedy, losing
a brother and a sister and also your beloved father. My whole family loved
him and his rat pack. I hope someday you can come to Queens, New York and hopefully
we can get to meet the daughter of such a wonderful man. Take care and may
God bless you and your family.
Diane D.
Hello Deana,
I was and am a big fan of your dad. My parents and sister
are also interred in Westwood and I visit them and your dad whenever I can
get up that way. I hope to write a guidebook on the (memorial) park here in
the near future. What isn't well known to the public is that your paternal
grandparents are also interred there in the sanctuary of peace. Do you have
a photograph of them that you could send for my book and/or post here? Thank
you for your time and yes, "Memories Are Made Of This".
Warmest regards,
Jim Maze
Dear Deana,
I read and I love your book about your dad and how you wrote
about everyone in the family and friends in your dad’s life. It was a
very good book and I enjoyed. I would like to know. Did you and your sister
Claudia have a double wedding together? I read an old movie magazine and the
pictures showed you and Claudia with your dad in a double wedding together.
Thank you
Ramona
Hi Ramona,
No, we did not have a double wedding but my beautiful
sister Claudia was my maid of honor.
Deana
Hi Deana!
I was thrilled to get your book as a gift from my brother.
On reading it, I love it! I found it very moving.
When I was a child, my brothers were buying Bowie...and I was buying Dean Martin...now
they understand! He was class personified. I now work for Sky TV in Scotland.
Did your dad ever visit Scotland? Have you any plans to visit the UK soon for
an appearance? God bless to you and your lovely mother (she’s so sweet)
Neil
Hi Neil,
My father is indeed the ‘King Of Cool’.
He performed in England but I am not certain about Scotland. As for me,
I am very happy to say we are currently working on both a concert tour
and a book signing tour through the UK. I will post the dates here on my
website as soon as the dates are final. Please send my best to everyone
at Sky TV.
Deana
Hi Deana,
First let me say it's an honor to be able to e-mail a question
to I think is the greatest singers of all time. I have purchased over the years
a lot of records and cassettes of your father. I am now starting on his CD's.
I watched your fathers show every Thursday night at 10:00 p.m. in N.Y. he was
a natural performer. The singers today must use other things to overlook their
ability. Your father didn't need that. In the last years on the show, he would
end it with 3 songs sitting on the couch. I know he loved having the Mills
Brothers on his show. He said his singing style was modeled after one of the
Mills Brothers.
In 1979 or 1980, I went to see him at the MGM. He was great.
I saw my idol in person. I had a chance to go to Rome or Vegas to see your
father live. I chose Vegas. Almost every day I listen to the rat packs CD of
1962 at the sands. They were a great group. Your father would open the show
and then Frank and then Dean and Frank would do a routine of jokes and songs.
Then Sammy would come out and do his routine. I know in my heart your father
loved his former wife Jeanne till the end.
I have been reviewing the web sites for a reprint picture
of the rat pack on their final American Express tour. I had tickets for that
too and was very disappointed he was not part of the show in N.J.
I saw on a web site, which I can't find any more that picture
of the 3 of them signed. I saw it in a store on the wall. Do you know where
I can get a reprint of this picture signed by all 3 of them?
I am on disability and live on a fixed income and that is
why I can't afford an original of them or your father.
If you can tell me where I can purchase it, I would be very
grateful. On one site I saw a picture of Dean and Frank on stage in 1962. It
was a reprint and it only cost 15.00. I would settle for that, however, I can’t
locate the site again. I will keep trying.
The rat pack and your father who I think is the greatest singer in the world
were natural performers. We will never have performers like them again. However,
we still have the music and the memories. They can't take that away from us.
I would appreciate it very much if you can direct me to where I can but the
reprints.
Your father show on TV was so good, that I wish it never ended.
I will continue to buy his CD's and enjoyed listening to them and reflect on
him singing the songs.
May God bless you and your family and Dean may he rest in
peace.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email, it means
a lot to me.
If you are unable to answer me, that's ok I understand. I
just wanted to know how I felt about him.
Donald Lennon
Dear Donald,
Thank you for your email. I am not certain where
you can find a signed photo of Dad, Frank and Sammy. If I come across one,
I will let you know.
